TRIP ITINERARY

Airport pickup and transport to the first hotel (room available afternoon). It is recommended that you arrive early in order to enjoy Delhi and adjust to jet lag. Delhi is the Republic of India's capital. It is one of India's busiest cities and continues to grow at a rapid pace. While being a very bustling city, Delhi demonstrates a very rich historical background. The city is home to one of the most stunning museums in the country. The modern city of Delhi is built atop the ruins of seven ancient towns.

Transfer to the train station in the morning and catch the Shatabdi Express to Chandigarh. This "luxury" train allows you to leave Delhi with total peace of mind before arriving in one of India's richest districts. The journey continues by road to Manali, which is located in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. You will pass through several towns and villages on this long day as well as interact with the first sacred cows, monkeys, and parrots before reaching the foothills of the Himalayas.

This first mountain stage from Manali begins with a switchback ascent to the Rohtang Pass (+3980 m), followed by a traverse of numerous tiny towns in the Lahaul valley, including Khoksar, Sissu, Gondla, and Tandi, which is located at the confluence of the Chandra and Bhaga rivers. Its communities are left to snow and ice in winter. Installation at the hotel in the charming village of Keylong, which may be explored at leisure. A magnificent monastery can be reached on foot by the most daring.

We drive to Darsha, which is well-tarmacked, after breakfast. We will travel northwest from Darsha to the Zanskar region, crossing the Shingkula pass at 5091 meters. Because the route between Darsha and Padum is still under construction, we will have to cross multiple rivers while passing through several Zanskar villages. We will spend the night in Purne with the locals and then visit the Phugtal monastery early the next morning.

Today, we take a diversion to the beautiful Phuktal Gompa, one of Zanskar's most stunning vistas. This subterranean monastery was established at the beginning of the 12th century. We will trek to the monastery for around 3 hours round way. Return to Purne and begin the trek to Padum, Zanskar's capital.

Following breakfast, on our way to Zanskar, we will experience its unique aura of peace and contentment. Our journey to the monastery of Stongde continues. Lunch is on the way to keep your stomach filled up. A visit to the monastery in Zanskar's capital, Padum, will be the next stop.

Zanskar's magnificent sceneries will lull you to sleep. Lunch on the way. The soaring heights that emerge everywhere along your trip near big glaciers will enchant you. The road conditions may be difficult, but the scenery will be breathtaking, especially when passing the Penzila pass at 4265 meters above sea level. We will carry on to Kargil after Penzila.

We proceed to the settlement of BodhKharbu, then turn north and take the road to the Aryan land, towards the valley of DhaHanu. The road is well-tarred and enjoyable, with a few "track"-like sections. The DHA Valley allows you to experience Ladakh's scenery one last time.

Today we will drive to Leh, the last but not least phase! We will take the same route back to Khaltse, then head north towards the Sham Valley. It is a detour that allows us to do a loop and explore fresh vistas in a region known for its small communities. The road is of excellent quality, and it is a pleasure to climb the tiny passes in well-marked switchbacks. Once we arrive in Likir after travelling through various villages and then take the NH1 to Leh. The surroundings around us are magnificent and parched, reminding any motorbike aficionado of the American West's desert. Finally, it is time to arrive at Leh. We will return the motorcycles, and you can spend the evening shopping for souvenirs and dining at tiny local eateries.

After breakfast, you will go to the highest road pass in the world, the Khardungla pass, which reaches an altitude of 5600 meters. The tour then continues into the Nubra Valley, with a stop at the Deskit monastery along the way. Installation at the camp, free evening to explore Hundur's settlement and discover some sand dunes. We will organize a Bactrian camel ride for you for the occasion, as you will not be visiting there every day!

The excursion concludes with a tranquil drive into the forest with a view of Stok Kangri, along with the magnificent Himalayan range over the Warila Pass (5,312 meters). Sakti's Takthok monastery, the only monastery in Ladakh dedicated to the Nyingma pa or Red-hat sect, can be visited. This 4-5 hour trip from Nubra to Leh across the Warila Pass complements a beautiful Ladakh journey that you may take.
